Product Overview

Canal filling stem philosophy

-Designed to deliver both proximal and distal fixation,
the Profemur® Renaissance® hip stem features a
unique “canal filling” hip stem to maximize contact
between the hip stem and the bone. The objective of
this design is maximum stability via bone apposition.
With primary fixation in the diaphysis, rotational
stability is achieved through use of distal splines.
Metaphyseal flare options then accommodate
differences between the proximal and distal bone
geometry. A slotted, rounded distal tip minimizes the
risk of fracture during insertion and point contact in
the canal after implantation.

Design features

Canal filling philosophy:
- Cylindrical distal geometry combined with distal
splines provides an additional 1mm of press-fit to fill
the canal and provide both primary fixation and
rotational stability

Metaphyseal fit options:
- 3o Proximal A/P taper, 0.5mm Ti Plasma Spray, and
Standard/Reduced flare options optimize fit, stability
and load transfer for patients with proximal/distal
bone geometry mismatch

Intraoperative flexibility:
- Primary spline fixation distally and proximal options
allow for the stem to be raised, lowered, anteverted,
and retroverted to best fit the patient's femoral
geometry while maintaining stability

Distal Slotted geometry:
- Rounded distal tip with coronal slot minimizes the
stem stiffness to reduce the risk of fracture and
facilitate load transfer to the body without point
loading

Product options:
- Sizes 10–16 (reduced flare) and sizes 10–18
(standard flare)
- Straight (135°) and varus (127°) neck angles
- Short and long neck lengths
- Reduced and standard flares
- Classic and modular
