Product Overview

The Monster Hindfoot Screw System is a cannulated screw system containing headed and headless 4.5 mm, 5.5 mm and 7.0 mm screws. Every detail was scrutinized that went into the design of these screws–from offering 2 mm length increments in the sizes most used for common procedures to multiple thread length options that allow versatility for the fixation of osteotomies, fractures and joint arthrodesis. We set the goal of being inclusive and respectful of individual surgeon’s preferences knowing that there is more than one way to a successful outcome. The Monster Screw System gives the surgeon the flexibility to change the type of screw used intraoperatively between headless and headed, as well as partially threaded and fully threaded.

Although the screw design is important to improved performance, the instruments that support the implantation of these screws was of special interest to the designers at Paragon 28®. We believe we have provided an ideal array of instruments to aid in foot and ankle surgery, rather than getting instruments that are better suited for an intertrochanteric hip fracture. Details down to our drill length, screw thread lengths and instrument options were matched for foot and ankle surgery. Be careful when handling our incredibly sharp screws, and look to the surgical technique guide to outline the instruments designed to make your surgery easier.

Paragon 28®'s Design Rationale:

If putting two screws across the subtalar joint becomes your Achilles heel during a triple arthrodesis, we included a Parallel K-wire Guide. This guide assists in controlling the spacing and trajectory of the 7.0 mm screw guide wires, allowing for more controlled placement of wires. Read more about this on pages 4-7 of the Subtalar Joint Arthrodesis Surgical Technique Guide.

With the short, medium and long thread length offerings available for the 7.0 mm Monster Screws, knowing which one to use can be a challenge. Our patent-pending Fluoroband™ Guide Wires have indicators that can be viewed under fluoroscopy to guide where the threads will land for the available thread lengths. Read more about this on page 9 of the Subtalar Joint Arthrodesis Surgical Technique Guide. (http://www.paragon28.com/)
